FILLING IN FOR THE COUNT

One of Basie's trademarks was his use of simple fills to create a sense of drama in the charts his band played. In tribute to that great tradition, this easy Beach original gives young pianists a chance to explore the same concept while the rest of the band gets a good workout on fundamental swing figures. A supplemental sheet with written lines for all instruments is provided for the open solo section, and the chart is playable by 12-17 musicians.
