This book is about you playing the way you need to. It's about recognising that nature makes us all differently and what suits one person may not suit another. I know that some of the techniques I recommend in this book "break the rules" (if indeed such rules exist) of traditional trumpet teaching and I make no apology for this at all. These techniques are based on the simple laws of nature and on common sense. They are not rooted in any particular musical discipline or school of thought. Through these techniques you may hopefully find a natural way of playing which will free you of many of the problems that trumpet players face: problems which invariably have their roots in misinformation, conflicting messages, confusion and paranoia.
